The milky white to creamy yellow color of butterscotch amber distinguishes it. Royal Amber, Antique Amber, Yolk Amber, and even White Amber or Yellow Amber are some of the other names for it. But what differentiates this white Amber resin from its more prevalent orange Amber cousin?
The opaque appearance of Butterscotch Amber is created by microscopic bubbles trapped within the resin, originating from the trees on which it originally lay, according to extensive technical studies. Butterscotch amber is made up of translucent resin with millions of scattered bubbles, as observed under an electron microscope. The milky appearance of the stone is due to light reflections.
Citrine is a gemstone that is extremely rare in nature. Its tawny tint caused it to be mistaken for topaz in the days before modern gemology. It is now the most popular yellow-to-orange gem due to its appealing color, as well as the durability it shares with most other quartzes. Citrine's most popular color in today's market is an earthy, rich, brownish or reddish orange.
