Ice Capiz Strand Chimes
These fair trade capiz chimes are made up of a stunning array of shapes and colors. They sparkle in the light, and when placed outside, create a gentle tinkling of the shells. Our capiz supply comes from a fishing village in Java, where our shell artisans sustainably harvest the shells and shape them. All parts of the capiz (jingle oyster) are used; the meat is used for food, the main part of the shell for handicraft, and the shell waste for fertilizer. Only full-grown shells are picked from the kelp beds, where they grow, which provides more space and food source for the young ones to grow. All our Capiz chimes are made with care in our fair trade, in-house workshop in Bali.
For over two decades, Balizen has been at the forefront of both the Fair Trade and sustainability movement. We create a unique line of ethical products for your home and garden. Our designs are inspired by nature and the Zen traditions of craftsmanship, simplicity, harmony and the use of natural and eco-friendly materials.
